FIFA has started selling space on giant screens at the 2026 World Cup. Fans who want their names to appear on the stadium's giant screens must pay $79.
On 10 June 2026, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) launched a new service for the 2026 World Cup called "Super Shoutout." This allows fans worldwide to pay 79 US dollars (approximately 2,900 baht) to have their name or country displayed on the large screens inside the stadiums.
Reports state this service will be available during all 72 group stage matches of the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Fans can purchase more than one message but are limited to a maximum of four slots per purchase.
However, FIFA clarified that the purchase comes with conditions: "Messages will be displayed before the match starts" and "will not appear during live gameplay." There is no guarantee the message will be broadcast on television, nor assurance that spectators in the stadium will clearly see the message.
After details of this initiative were revealed, social media erupted with criticism. Some fans viewed FIFA as excessively increasing revenue streams from the World Cup, while others saw it as an activity that enhances fan engagement and experience globally.
The 2026 World Cup will be the first tournament to feature 48 countries competing, with matches held across 16 host cities throughout North America from June to July 2026. The opening match will feature one of the host teams, the Mexico national team, facing South Africa on Friday, 12 June 2026 at 02:00 (Thailand time) at the Mexico City Stadium.
