Tuchel Responds After England National Team Rout Costa Rica

Thomas Tuchel, coach of the England national team, shared his thoughts after leading the team to a commanding victory over Costa Rica in a pre-2026 World Cup friendly match.

Thomas Tuchel said he feels very proud of his team's performance after they decisively defeated Costa Rica 3-0 in their final warm-up match this morning, ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Goals from Declan Rice, Anthony Gordon, and Ollie Watkins helped the "Three Lions" secure a confident win in Florida, boosting their morale ahead of the World Cup title pursuit.

Tuchel stated, “It was a very strong team performance. It wasn’t about any single player today, and we deserved the victory. We want to take it to the next level, and we clearly achieved that.”

“It gives me great peace of mind because we are on the right path, and I am very proud of what I saw today — both the team's spirit and our character. The players who came on played key roles, and the substitutes also helped push us. That’s exactly what we needed.”

England will compete in Group L at the 2026 World Cup, alongside Croatia, Ghana, and Panama.
