The Japan national team coach spoke openly after his side came from behind to draw 2-2 with the Netherlands in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup.
Hajime Moriyasu, coach of Japan's national team, praised his players for their refusal to give up, as they fought back to draw 2-2 against the Netherlands in the first Group F match of the 2026 World Cup.
Moriyasu said, “Our players didn’t give up, even after falling behind twice. We united as one, fought fiercely, and never relented until the very end, as proven on the field.”
“Earning one point is somewhat regrettable in some respects, but in terms of the result, it is a very good outcome.”
“We defended patiently and resolutely, gradually increasing our aggressive attacks. The players followed the detailed tactics we prepared excellently. They were composed and calm, controlling the game superbly without panic.”
“For our upcoming second Group F match, we will prepare perfectly to secure all three points.”
