The Netherlands national team coach shared his thoughts after being caught by Japan in a draw at the start of the 2026 World Cup.
Ronald Koeman, the coach of the Netherlands national team, admitted he was quite disappointed after taking the lead twice but eventually being pegged back to a 2-2 draw by Japan in the first match of Group F at the 2026 World Cup.
Koeman said, "It is disappointing when you lead twice but end up not winning. Of course, we can play better and need to continue improving during the competition."
"However, I am not overly pessimistic. I saw a team that has improved a lot, and you should never underestimate the strength of your opponent. That is my view."
