Vozinha Speaks Out After Becoming Cape Verdes Hero, Leading Team to 2026 World Cup

"Vozinha" speaks on one matter after becoming Cape Verde's hero by leading the team into the 2026 World Cup.

On 27 June 2026, Vozinha, the 40-year-old goalkeeper and hero of Cape Verde's national team, gave an interview following their group stage match at the 2026 World Cup, where he played a key role in helping the team advance to the knockout round of the final 32 teams.

Cape Verde (Cabo Verde), an island nation off West Africa with a population under 530,000—less than Thailand's Chanthaburi province (around 560,000)—made its debut in the World Cup finals, creating a historic milestone for football.

Cape Verde drew 0-0 with Spain in their first match, then came back to draw 2-2 with Uruguay, and in the latest game held Saudi Arabia to a 0-0 draw, finishing second in Group H with 3 points, becoming one of the 32 teams advancing to the 2026 World Cup knockout stage in a surprising outcome.

However, Vozinha revealed he is currently a free agent after his contract with Chaves, a Liga 2 Portuguese club he played for over the past two seasons, expired, and he is now seeking a new challenge.

Vozinha said, "My contract with my previous club, Deportivo Chaves, has ended, and at the moment, I have no offers from anywhere. I am open to all options and will see what opportunities come my way."

Despite being 40 years old, it is believed this goalkeeper will have many options if clubs show interest in signing him after the 2026 World Cup.
