Cody Gakpo, the Netherlands international forward for Liverpool, and his girlfriend Noa van der Bij shared the sad news that Noa lost their unborn son, and they thanked everyone for the love and support sent to them.
Gakpo and Noa were expecting their second child, due in October, but received heartbreaking news. Noa posted, “With a broken heart, we must share the sad news that our son passed away during pregnancy. Thank you for the love and support. ‘Elijah Rafael Gakpo’ will be loved by us forever and will always be our son.”
Meanwhile, Gakpo posted, “This is an extremely difficult time for our family.
We ask everyone for privacy and personal space. Thank you all for understanding.”
The 27-year-old Gakpo started all three group stage matches at the 2026 World Cup for the Netherlands, helping his home country advance to the knockout stage.
