Following Spain's 3-0 rout of Austria in the 2026 World Cup round of 32, "La Roja" secured their spot in the round of 16.
Mikel Oyarzabal, who scored twice in the match, said he was delighted to help the team beat a strong Austrian side and advance. He also expressed readiness to face Portugal, where some of his friends play.
“I'm happy to have helped the team progress to the next stage. Now we need to rest a bit. Austria was a tough and challenging opponent, but we played well. We're glad to have advanced,” he said.
"Honestly, it doesn't matter who we face next, but I do have friends on the Portuguese national team," Oyarzabal added.
Spain will meet Portugal in the 2026 World Cup round of 16 on July 7.
