England Faces Three More Setbacks Threatening 2026 World Cup Title Hopes Before Norway Clash in Quarterfinals

England faces three more setbacks that threaten their 2026 World Cup title hopes before their quarterfinal match against Norway.

On 10 July 2026, the England national team encountered three additional setbacks ahead of their quarterfinal clash against Norway in the 2026 World Cup, scheduled for the night of Saturday, 11 July, at 04:00 on Sunday, 12 July, Thai time.

It was recently revealed that key midfielder Declan Rice has been struck by illness to the extent that officials from the Football Association (FA) of England had to isolate him from the main squad to prevent and control any potential spread that could affect the England team.

Previously, Declan Rice had been dealing with hamstring and lower back muscle injuries. Combined with his current illness, the Arsenal midfielder has now missed training for the second consecutive day.

Meanwhile, Marc Guehi, a defender from Manchester City, has become the latest player to suffer an additional hamstring muscle injury, despite playing the full 90 minutes in the 3-2 round of 16 win against Mexico.

Additionally, versatile defender Jarell Quansah’s suspension was extended from one to two matches after it was reviewed that he committed a severe foul on Mexico’s left back, Jesus Gallardo. This means he will miss both the quarterfinal and semifinal matches, only returning if England reaches the final.

However, there is some good news for England as right back Reece James, who suffered a hamstring injury during the 0-0 group stage match against Ghana in Group L, has returned to full training for the first time. Although he did not complete the session, he remains a candidate to start in the game against Norway.
