Norwegian national football team jerseys sold out in European stores after the "Vikings" defeated Brazil to advance to the World Cup quarterfinals against England.
The Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) revealed that they underestimated demand and did not expect jerseys to sell out after launching the products in March.
Retailers ordered over 250,000 Norwegian jerseys to sell, compared to about 50,000 units ordered last year.
Norwegian fans eager to collect jerseys lined up outside stores from early morning. A store in Oslo had lines over 600 meters long, with some fans waiting up to 12 hours, leaving sales staff astonished as they had never seen such a scene before.
Fans unable to purchase jerseys at retail prices were willing to pay up to five times more, about $476, compared to the original price of $100.
For the World Cup quarterfinals, Norway will face England at Miami Stadium on 12 July 2026 at 4:00 a.m. (Saturday night, 11 July) Thailand time.
