Donald Trump Picks His Favorite Team, Hopes for 2026 World Cup Victory, Praises One Player Especially

Donald Trump has chosen his favorite team to support and is hoping they will win the 2026 FIFA World Cup, showing special admiration for one individual.

On 13 July 2026, Andrew Giuliani, who is responsible for World Cup 2026 matters on U.S. President Donald Trump's team, revealed that the United States is backing the England national team to win this World Cup.

Giuliani told the Daily Mail, a leading British media outlet, "You know, if the U.S. doesn't win the championship in the year marking the country's 250th anniversary, another great story would be for England to come to America and win the title during our celebration period."

"I understand that England has endured disappointment for 60 years, so winning this tournament would truly be a beautiful victory for them."

"I firmly believe that England has a strong chance to win because they are one of the top teams still competing in the tournament."

Giuliani added that President Donald Trump, who posted on social media last week praising Harry Kane as both an "excellent player" and a "good person," is closely following the performance of the England captain and striker in this tournament.

He added, "A few years ago, I played golf in a group with President Trump and Wayne Rooney, and Trump knows a lot about football. I think that's because of his close relationship with Barron, his son."

"Harry Kane is England's top scorer, and if they are to win this tournament, he will be a key to their success."

"He is one of the team's crucial players. Both he and Jude Bellingham are outstanding athletes."

"In my view, England is a very balanced team. The important thing is that they must have confidence, and the coach needs to instill in them the belief that they have the potential to win the championship."

Harry Kane revealed he once played a round of golf with the U.S. leader in Florida in late 2024, describing it as an incredible and unique experience. He was impressed by Trump's golfing skills, especially considering Trump was 78 years old at the time.

England will face Argentina in the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup on Wednesday, 15 July, at 2:00 a.m. on 16 July Thai time.
