Scholes Comments on England and Spain National Teams, Causing a Stir

Paul Scholes speaks about the England and Spain national teams, stirring reactions.

Scholes states clearly: England has better players than Spain but lacks teamwork and is overly selfish.

Paul Scholes, the legendary England midfielder, believes England has a better squad than Spain when comparing the overall team strength, but what is missing is teamwork. England finished third in the 2026 World Cup, while Spain went on to win their second glorious title.

Scholes said, "Compare our players with Spain's. I think we have better players. It might sound foolish, but I believe we have more quality players individually than Spain."

"But our biggest problem, which is not just this World Cup issue, is that everyone is too focused on their own performance. We have many talented footballers, but they are too selfish."

Although Scholes still likes Thomas Tuchel, he admitted feeling unsettled by Tuchel's interview after losing in the semifinals where Tuchel said the England team lacks possession DNA, which sounded like he wanted to be fired.

"I like the manager, as I've said before, but I think his comments after that game made the situation worse than the actual performance. Especially since you're part of that DNA, Thomas!"

"He kept making excuses and blaming players a lot. That's something Sir Alex Ferguson (the legendary Manchester United manager) would never do."

"He (Ferguson) would definitely blame us behind the scenes, in training and meetings, but never in public."

"But I think Thomas Tuchel has a history like this at football clubs. He often blames players and argues with the sporting director."

"You can't help but wonder, with the way he speaks, if he actually wants to be fired?"
