Micão Cardoso hopes to join the Brazil national team to play in the World Cup four years from now.
On 25 July 2026 GMT+7, Micão Cardoso, the 17-year-old rising forward of Bayern Munich, revealed that his greatest dream is to represent Brazil at the 2030 World Cup, despite still being eligible to play for Portugal.
In an interview with Brazilian media Globo, the 17-year-old forward said Brazil has always been his dream national team but he remains open to all national team options.
Micão explained that his inspiration comes from Neymar and emphasized that he respects both Brazil and Portugal national teams and is ready to accept a call-up from either country.
"As a child, I always watched the Brazil national team, partly because of Neymar, but I have always supported Brazil. My dream is to play for the Brazil national team."
"After Brazil's unfortunate early exit, I set my goal to do everything possible to be ready and have the chance to make the national team at the next World Cup. It is every footballer's dream and one of my greatest dreams. If God wills, I will work hard and dedicate myself every day so that by 2030, I am ready to be called up."
He also recalled his Bayern Munich debut in March, revealing that manager Vincent Kompany simply told him, "Go out and do what you do in training," before sending him onto the field.
Micão moved from Brazil to live in Thailand as a child after his father, former footballer Douglas, came to play there. He later excelled in the Bayern World Squad program, joined Bayern Munich's youth team, and eventually made his Bundesliga debut as a substitute for Luis Diaz in Bayern's 4-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
