The heated aftermath of the 2026 World Cup final saw Spain defeat Argentina 1-0 in extra time to claim their second title. However, after the match, Argentina's players and staff appeared unable to control themselves, displaying several inappropriate behaviors.
Among them was Roberto Ayala, Argentina's assistant manager, who seemed to throw a punch at Spain's striker Dani Olmo. Ayala later claimed it was a momentary emotional shove, not a punch, and expressed a desire to apologize to Olmo for what happened.
However, Olmo recently responded by rejecting Ayala's apology and reprimanding him: if you are going to lie like this, don’t waste time apologizing. Learn to take responsibility and have some dignity.
Olmo said, "Someone who says they are sorry but excuses the punch by claiming it was a response to words is certainly not sorry because he is lying. I didn’t say anything to him, so he has no reason to apologize."
