Three Thai Golf Organizations Join Forces to Host Thailand Open with a 7-Million Baht Prize at Riverdale

Three Thai golf associations have joined forces to elevate the 'Thailand Open,' increasing the prize money to as much as 7 million baht.

The Thailand Golf Association under royal patronage, together with the Thailand Professional Golf Association and the All Thailand Golf Tour, are organizing the 53rd Thailand Open. The prize money has increased from 5 million to 7 million baht (with the champion receiving 1,050,000 baht). The event will take place from 4–7 December 2025 at Riverdale Golf Club in Pathum Thani Province, featuring 144 golfers competing.

The Thailand Open is recognized as the oldest professional golf tournament in Thailand, first held in 1965 (60 years ago). It has become a key platform for developing the country's top golfers. In addition to the total prize of 7 million baht, the champion will also receive the Royal Trophy bestowed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great.

Rangsarit Laksitanon, president of the Thailand Golf Association, said, “The Thailand Open is a prestigious trophy that every professional golfer aspires to win. The collaboration of these three organizations demonstrates each one’s commitment to advancing Thai golf. The Thailand Open reflects our determination to promote Thai golf to the international stage.”

Pongrat Luengthamrongcharoen, president of the Thailand Professional Golf Association, added, “This year marks the first time our association has been involved in this prestigious event for professional golfers. It is an important step in strengthening Thai male professional golfers, with increased prize money and recognition through World Ranking points. This elevates the standard of golf in the country.”

Chakpong Thongyai, chairman of the All Thailand Golf Tour, stated, “We are proud to help create a tournament with high standards and provide opportunities for Thai golfers to fully showcase their abilities. Especially with the involvement of the Thailand Professional Golf Association under Pongrat Luengthamrongcharoen’s leadership, which will enhance the standards and recognition of Thai golf more clearly.”

The 53rd Thailand Open, organized by the Thailand Golf Association under royal patronage, will serve as the final event of the All Thailand Golf Tour season. It will determine the top golfer of the tour, the best rookie, and the retention of tour cards for the next season.

So far, nine Thai golfers have won the Thailand Open: Suthep Meesawat (1991), Boonchu Ruangkit twice (1992 and 2004), Prayad Marksaeng (2013), Ratchanon Wannasrichan (2017), Panuphol Pittayarat (2018), Sadom Kaewkanjana (2021), Kwanjai Taennil (2022), Denwit David Briboontrasup (2023), and Chayutphol Kittiratnaipiboon (2024).
