The Wait Is Over: Lando Norris Clinches First F1 World Championship

Lando Norris, the young British driver for McLaren, has successfully claimed the 2025 Formula One World Championship title in the drivers' category.

Lando Norris, the young British driver for McLaren, secured the 2025 Formula One World Championship drivers' title after finishing third in the final race at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix held at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, last Sunday.

Before the final race, Norris had accumulated 408 points, followed by four-time consecutive world champion Max Verstappen from the Dutch Red Bull team with 396 points, and Norris's McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri from Australia with 392 points, making all three contenders for the drivers' championship in the final race.

In the race, Verstappen finished first with a time of 1 hour, 26 minutes, and 7.469 seconds, followed by Piastri in second and Norris in third.

However, by finishing third, 26-year-old Norris totaled 423 points, securing the world championship. Verstappen placed second with 421 points, and Piastri third with 410 points. Meanwhile, Thai driver Alexander Albon of Williams finished eighth, accumulating 73 points.

In the Constructors' Championship, McLaren took the title with 14 wins and 833 points, followed by Mercedes with 2 wins and 469 points, and Red Bull with 8 wins and 451 points.
