16 Years of Waiting! May Ratchanok Wins Long-Awaited SEA Games Gold, Sends Heartfelt Message to Woman She Misses Most

16 years of waiting! "May Ratchanok" wins the SEA Games gold she has long awaited after competing since age 14, sending a heartfelt message to the woman she misses most.

On 15 Dec 2025 GMT+7, "May" Ratchanok Intanon, ranked 8th in the world, sent a message to the woman she misses most after beautifully concluding her final SEA Games appearance. She defeated Supanida Katethong, the world’s 12th-ranked and 2023 defending champion, 2-0 in games to claim two gold medals—women’s team and women’s singles—that she has long sought since her first SEA Games in 2009 in Laos, when she was just 14.

After the match, May Ratchanok shared a conversation she had sent to her late mother, Kamphan, following her successful gold medal win at the 2025 SEA Games, with the caption, "She is the first woman I think of every time I achieve success."

Throughout her career, May Ratchanok Intanon has amassed countless badminton titles, including three World Junior Championships (2009, 2010, 2011), one World Championship (2013), an Asian Championship (2015), and 23 BWF titles across all levels, yet the SEA Games women’s singles gold medal is the one she has awaited the longest.

Ratchanok Intanon’s SEA Games achievements include: 4 gold medals in team events, 1 gold medal in individual events, 1 individual silver, 1 individual bronze, and 1 team bronze.
