
Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran edged out the Malaysian duo 2-1 to advance to round two of the India Open 2026.
At the Yonex-Sunrise India Open 2026, a World Tour Super 750 badminton tournament held in India, the mixed doubles first round took place on 13 January. “Bas” Dechapol Puavaranukroh and “Fem” Supissara Paewsampran, the world’s No. 3 mixed doubles pair, faced Ho Pang Ron and Cheng Su Yin, ranked 21st in the world from Malaysia. The two pairs had met three times before, with the Thai duo winning all previous encounters.
The result was that Bas and Fem overturned an initial first-game loss to narrowly defeat Ho Pang Ron and Cheng Su Yin 2-1, with scores of 17-21, 21-16, and 22-20 in a 57-minute match.
This victory put them into the second round, or the last 16. Bas and Fem will next face the winner between Ye Hong Wei and Nicole Gonzales Chan, ranked 16th in the world from Taiwan, or Akira Koga and Natsu Saito from Japan.
