Following the International Volleyball Federation's (FIVB) announcement of the host countries for all venues of the 2026 Women's Volleyball Nations League (VNL 2026) except for Venue 2, which has yet to be officially confirmed, there has been speculation online about the reason for the delay, despite earlier reports that Thailand would serve as the host.
On 28 January 2026, Thairath Sport inquired with Somporn Chaibangyang, President of the Volleyball Association of Thailand, who firmly confirmed that Thailand will definitely be the host for Venue 2, 100%. The reason the official announcement has not yet been made is because details are still being reviewed in collaboration with government agencies and the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), including verifying rights and the full scope of operations in all areas before final confirmation.
The competition schedule for the Thailand women's national volleyball team in the VNL 2026 is as follows:
Venue 1, from 3–7 June 2026 in Nanjing, China, competing alongside China (ranked 6th globally), Serbia (9th), Belgium (14th), the Czech Republic (15th), and Thailand.
Venue 2, from 17–21 June 2026, has yet to have an official host announcement. Teams participating include Canada (ranked 12th), Ukraine (16th), the Netherlands (8th), Bulgaria (25th), and Thailand.
Venue 3, from 8–12 July 2026 in Kansai, Japan, competing with Japan (5th), Turkey (3rd), Brazil (2nd), the United States (7th), and Thailand.
Meanwhile, Thai volleyball fans must await the official announcement from FIVB. However, based on the association president's confirmation, it is highly likely that Thailand will indeed host Venue 2 of the VNL 2026 competition.
