12 February 2026 — "Pro Gino" Atthaya Thitikul, Thailand's world-class female professional golfer, has once again made Thai sports fans proud after being selected by the Golf Writers Association of America (GWAA) as the Female Player of the Year.
This prestigious award is one of the highest honors in golf, determined by a vote among golf media across the United States, based on performance, consistency, and excellence throughout the season.
For example, she made history by winning the 2025 Rolex Player of the Year and broke the Vare Trophy world record for the lowest scoring average after the season-ending major tournament in Florida.
Pro Gino officially earned the Female Player of the Year award after the CME Group Tour Championship, becoming the second Thai to do so after "Pro May" Ariya Jutanugarn, and the first in several years to win both the top player award and the Vare Trophy in the same year.
Her greatest achievement was winning the Vare Trophy with an average score of 68.681 strokes, breaking the long-standing record of legend Annika Sörenstam, which had stood since 2002, making her one of only three golfers in history with a season scoring average below 69.
Throughout 2025, "Pro Gino" displayed fiery form by winning 2 titles and finishing in the Top 10 in 14 out of 20 tournaments played. This consistency propelled her back to the world number 1 ranking in August before closing the season with a decisive victory over her Japanese competitor.
Currently, Pro Gino has collected 5 major LPGA titles, becoming one of the most influential and closely watched athletes on tour, with hopes to continue setting new records in the upcoming season.
