Every Shot is an Opportunity for Victory: The Secret to Success of Projeen

Every shot is an opportunity for "victory": the secret to the finish line of "Projeen," the world’s No. 1 golfer.

This week, Thai golf fans will experience a major international golf tournament at home with the LPGA Tour's Honda LPGA Thailand, held at Siam Country Club Old Course in Pattaya, Chonburi Province, from 19 to 22 February.

As in previous years, the Honda LPGA Thailand marks the start of the Asian Swing for women’s golf, attracting many top female professionals from around the world to compete.

Among them is "Projeen" Atthaya Thitikul, the world’s No. 1 female golfer, who has participated since she was an amateur, first entering in 2017 and competing continuously up to the present.

Projeen’s best result in this event was finishing runner-up in 2021, still as an amateur, with the champion that year being "Prome" Ariya Jutanugarn.

Since then, Projeen has never fallen outside the top 10 in the tournament, except in 2024 when she had to take about four months off to recover from a hand injury.

Not only in the Honda LPGA Thailand, Projeen is recognized as the most consistently performing golfer on the current LPGA Tour, proven by finishing in the top 10 most often in 3 of the last 4 years (except in 2024 when she finished 2nd), and leading the Stroke Gained statistic—measuring shot efficiency compared to the tour average—ranking top 2 since 2023 and reaching No. 1 last year.

One key to Projeen’s success is setting a goal for every shot; when facing a challenging shot, she is ready to handle it and focus on the present, knowing that every shot is an "opportunity." Swinging confidently at full power means creating chances and possibilities to win.

Thanks to this secret, Projeen became the most successful golfer on the LPGA Tour in the 2025 season, being the only player to win 3 tournaments. Importantly, she swept major awards including the Rolex Player of The Year and the Vare Trophy with the lowest average score in tour history at 68.68. She also defended her title at the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship and claimed $4 million in prize money for the second consecutive year.

This year, Projeen began with a light warm-up at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, the season opener in the United States, where the Thai pro tied for 7th place.

This year’s Honda LPGA Thailand is special as Projeen will turn 23 during the tournament, on 20 February. When asked about her birthday gift goal, she jokingly said she would aim for a hole-in-one on the 8th hole to win a Honda GoldWing motorcycle.

Whatever the final outcome, the important thing is to focus effort and spirit on every shot and swing with confidence, as this creates opportunities and possibilities to achieve victory.
