The Return of Anthony Kim: Recharging in Thailand, Addicted to Winning Again for His Family

"I'm addicted to building it up again," Anthony Kim revealed about his grand comeback ahead of the LIV Golf Hong Kong tournament.

On 5 Mar 2026 GMT+7, after being absent from the sport for 16 years, superstar golfer Anthony Kim rose again as the LIV Golf Adelaide champion, earning praise not only for his skills but for a "heart" shaped by valuable life lessons.

Before the LIV Golf Hong Kong event, Anthony Kim opened up about his two-week break in Thailand, where he trained intensively and spent time with family. What he does now is completely different from the "old Anthony."

"In the past, I might not have done this, but back then, probably no one wanted to be part of my family," Kim said candidly about past mistakes. "It's great to have reorganized myself, making golf, family, and quitting addiction the most important things in my life."

The most memorable image from the Adelaide event was the moment his daughter ran to hug him on the green, which Kim admitted was the most special moment of his life.

"I am someone recovering from drug addiction, but now I think I am 'addicted' to recreating moments like that, and nothing will stop me from working hard to reach that point again."

What makes Kim's comeback more meaningful than just on-course success is its impact on people worldwide. He has received an overwhelming number of messages via social media from those facing life's storms.

Kim tries to respond to those messages because he feels the power of "acceptance" regarding the mistakes he made.

For him, golf is no longer just a contest between LIV and PGA; it is about setting goals, patience, overcoming obstacles, and passing on strength. "Seeing others change their lives for their families is one of the main reasons I want to play golf again."

When asked how often he replays highlights from that championship Sunday, the 40-year-old champion humorously replied with determination, "I've watched it enough that now I won't watch it anymore."

Today, Anthony Kim is not just a golfer chasing victories but a man proving to the world that no matter how far you have lost your way, "starting over" is always possible if you dare to accept it and work hard.
