“Bas-Fem” Return to Thailand, Reveal Reasons for Withdrawing from Asian Championship, Hope to Recover in Time for Thomas Cup in Denmark

On 12 April 2026, View, Bas, and Fem, three Thai national badminton players, returned home with their Asian Championship awards. View and Kulwut resumed training immediately, while Bas and Fem underwent detailed medical examinations before preparing for the Thomas & Uber Cup next week.

The final group of Thai shuttlecock hitters arrived back in their homeland, led by “Bas” Dechapol Puavaranukroh and “Fem” Supissara Paewsampran, silver medalists in mixed doubles at the 2026 Asian Championships, greeted warmly upon their return.

Earlier this afternoon at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Air Chief Marshal Monthon Satchukorn, President of the Badminton Association of Thailand, joined in congratulating and presenting flowers to the final group of athletes returning from the 2026 Badminton Asian Championships held in Ningbo, People's Republic of China.

Revealing the reason for withdrawing from the final: Bas’s condition caused concern.

Regarding the withdrawal in the final, “Bas” Dechapol disclosed the critical moment stemmed from his body being under continuous heavy strain, leading to severe cramps spreading throughout his body.

“The cramps started from my feet up to my neck due to dehydration from playing intense matches continuously. I was sent to the hospital, and blood tests showed elevated kidney values. The doctor ordered immediate rest for long-term safety,” Bas explained.

Regarding hopes to assist the Thai national team in the upcoming 2026 Thomas & Uber Cup, Bas said his condition will be evaluated daily. However, if he recovers in time, he is determined to fully support the team on the court.

The next schedule for the Thai badminton team is the World Team Championships for men (Thomas Cup) and women (Uber Cup), organized by the Badminton World Federation (BWF). This prestigious international team competition will take place from 24 April to 3 May 2026 in Horsens, Denmark.
