It became another heartwarming moment at the 130th Boston Marathon after a runner fell near the end of the race while many competitors kept rushing toward the finish line without stopping to help.
On 22 Apr 2026 GMT+7, a widely shared clip showed the runner attempting to stand three times but his legs weakened each time. He had to crouch to gather strength before trying to get up again but collapsed right in front of onlookers.
At a moment when it seemed he was about to give up, runner number 2289 in a yellow shirt immediately stopped and went to support him, sacrificing his own race time. Shortly after, runner number 2272 also came running and chose to stop and help as well.
The two assisted the fallen runner, who was suspected to be suffering from cramps or severe exhaustion, helping him stand up again. They then slowly supported him as they walked together without haste, though it was unclear how far the finish line remained.
The image of the three moving forward together drew loud applause from spectators lining the route, while online communities hailed the two helpers as the "true heroes" of the race.
Although they may have lost precious time, what they gained was admiration and recognition for the spirit of sportsmanship, showing that sometimes "victory" is not measured at the finish line but in the heart along the journey.
