
TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Thailand kicks off with strength, winning the TSS 2026 championship trophy at the first event in Buriram.
TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Thailand, a prominent and consistently successful team with 40 years of experience in Thai motorsports, supported by Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., launched the 2026 racing season with vigor. They competed in the TSS The Super Series by B-Quik on the road circuit, delivering outstanding performances by winning two class championships. The team featured seasoned drivers and new talents, including Sutthipong Samitchat, Natthawut Charoensukhawattana, Natthapong Hotongkham, Manat Kulapalanon, Krun Supapong, Akkarapong Akaneenirot, Krit Wasurat, Nadol Watthanatham, Narrat Apiwat, Aitan Atsadathorn, Songsak Konsirisubsakul, and newcomer Mario-Sittichai Khangnimit. They opened the thrilling racing season at Chang International Circuit in Buriram Province from 21-24 May 2026.
The first event was thrilling as TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Thailand fielded teams competing in four classes with seven Toyota cars. The results were as follows:
In the TSS Super Car GTC class, the GR Supra GTC car number 24 marked the first pairing of experienced driver Natthawut Charoensukhawattana with junior talent Nadol Watthanatham. They showed strong form, winning first place in the first race. The Corolla Altis GTC car number 37, driven by Natthapong Hotongkham and Manat Kulapalanon, finished second in race one and came back to claim first place in race two.
In the Super Touring class, the Yaris ATIV car number 25, driven by Narrat Apiwat and Aitan Atsadathorn, fiercely contested throughout the races, securing first and second places on the Touring-NA podium. The Yaris ATIV HEV car number 67, piloted by the team’s newcomer Mario-Sittichai Khangnimit, finished tenth and ninth in the Touring-NA class.
In the TSS Supercar GT4 category, the GR Supra GT4 car number 19, driven by Sutthipong Samitchat and Krun Supapong, finished second and third in the GT4 Am class. Meanwhile, car number 11, driven by Akkarapong Akaneenirot and Krit Wasurat, secured second and fourth places in the GT4 Pro class.
In the Super Pickup class, which had three races, the Hilux Champ car number 92, driven by Songsak Konsirisubsakul, finished seventh, sixth, and fifth in the Pickup A class.
After the race, Sutthipong Samitchat, team director and driver for TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Thailand, commented on the opening season performance: "Overall, the first race was very satisfactory. The team successfully won championship trophies. Everyone worked excellently together. There are areas to improve and adjust, but we gathered important data from this first event to fine-tune and enhance the cars for upcoming races. Our goal is to accumulate maximum points every race and secure championships in all categories."
