Volleyball Holds United We Move Forward Event to Boost Morale Ahead of Major 2026 Competitions

The Volleyball Association organized the 2026 Thai Volleyball Family Day event, themed "United We Move Forward," to thank the Thai national volleyball players, coaching staff, and supporters who have collectively propelled Thai volleyball to success.

On 24 May, at the Chaturathit Room of the Golden Tulip Sovereign Hotel in Bangkok, Mr. Somporn Saibarnyang, President of the Volleyball Association of Thailand, presided over the opening of the 2026 Thai Volleyball Family Day event, "United We Move Forward." The event expressed gratitude to coaches, national volleyball players—both indoor and beach—across all age groups, as well as personnel and supporters involved in the association's activities, which have successfully brought honor to Thailand throughout 2026. The event was well attended by Honorary Secretary Air Force Lieutenant Commander Chanyarit Wongprasert, Chairman of the Volleyball Association's Board, former and current national players, coaching staff, and sponsor representatives.

During the event, awards were presented to both senior and youth players, along with coaches, who have brought prestige to the nation through dedication, endurance, and determination. Monetary awards totaling over 10 million baht from the association and the National Sports Development Fund were given to players and coaches. Notably, the women's indoor team delivered outstanding results, winning gold at the 2025 SEA Games, championing the 2025 SEA V.League, and placing 13th at the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship. Meanwhile, the men's indoor team also secured the 2025 SEA Games championship, showing continuous improvement.

Additionally, Mr. Dissakorn Kunthorn, Chairman of the Playground Wisdom Foundation, was appointed Honorary President of the Volleyball Association of Thailand in recognition of his support in helping the association build the country's reputation in volleyball.

Mr. Somporn Saibarnyang, President of the Volleyball Association of Thailand, said the 2026 Thai Volleyball Family Day event, "United We Move Forward," was organized to foster a warm volleyball family atmosphere and to thank benefactors. The event also honored coaches and athletes representing Thailand in various international competitions over the past year, along with other dedicated personnel whose commitment and sacrifice have ensured the association's smooth operation and great success, bringing pride to the nation.

He added that the association strives to provide as many rewards as possible to encourage athletes, though this year’s prizes may be modest due to significant budget expenditures on hosting the Women's Volleyball World Championship. Nevertheless, all athletes understand and take pride in serving the country. Going forward, the association will do its best to care for the athletes.

Regarding preparations for the Thai women's volleyball team for the 2026 Volleyball Nations League (VNL), set to begin in the first week of June in China from 3-7 June, initially all overseas-based athletes have returned. About 30 athletes have been called for training camp, which will be narrowed down to approximately 20 players according to the Asian Games 2026 quota. Additional players may be kept on standby to replace any who might sustain injuries during the demanding Nations League schedule. Furthermore, promising younger players will be given opportunities to gain experience in international competitions to prepare them as future replacements.

Concerning injured players, especially key figures such as Chatchu-on Moksri, Hataya Bamrungsuk, and Wiphawee Srithong, they will likely miss the first Nations League round. The Thailand Sports Authority's medical and sports science team will manage their rehabilitation to ensure full recovery. It is expected they may return to competition during the second or third week, although not yet at full capacity. The association will support their full recovery as much as possible.
