At the Polytron Indonesia Open 2026, a BWF World Tour Super 1000 event held in Indonesia on 3 June, in mixed doubles first round, world number 3 pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran faced Japan's world number 15 duo, Yuichi Shomogami and Sayaka Hobara.
Dechapol and Supissara had just lost 1-2 to the Japanese pair in the quarterfinals of the Singapore Open 2026 last week, where the Japanese team went on to become runners-up.
This time, the match was tightly contested. In the first game, Dechapol and Supissara saved two game points and came back to win a deuce game 23-21. The second game was closely fought, with the Japanese team narrowly winning 21-19, leveling the match at 1-1.
In the deciding game, Dechapol and Supissara played with resilience and precision, ultimately securing the victory 2-1 with scores of 23-21, 19-21, and 21-19.
In the second round, Dechapol and Supissara will face Malaysia's world number 253 pair, Ho Pang Ron and Lai Pei Jing, who defeated Indonesia's Marwan Faza and Isyaah Zalsabila Putri Pranata, ranked 25th, 21-17, 21-9.
