Piyanuch Paennoy revealed her surprising new role with the Thailand women's national volleyball team during their win over Bulgaria in the VNL 2026.
Following the Thailand women's national volleyball team's impressive performance, they defeated Bulgaria decisively 3-0 in sets, 25-22, 25-20, 25-17, earning 6 points and moving up from 17th to 14th place on the VNL 2026 leaderboard.
After the game, Piyanuch Paennoy, who shifted from libero to a regular defensive player and was able to serve an ace, said, “Actually, I just took on some reception roles, but I didn’t expect to serve. However, we do practice serving from time to time.”
“I’m very happy. When others serve an ace, they celebrate like this. It’s a moment we might never have experienced before. For me, no matter what role I’m assigned, I will do my best.”
Next, the Thailand women’s volleyball team will compete in their third match of the second VNL 2026 venue against the world No. 9 Canada on Saturday, 20 June at 20:30.
