Warissara opens up about heavy criticism after Thailand women's volleyball team’s first win in VNL 2026.
On 18 June 2026, Fern Warissara Sithaler, the rising star middle blocker of Thailand’s women’s volleyball team, gave an interview after their second match in Round 2 of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2026 at Indoor Stadium Huamark, Bangkok.
In this match, Thailand’s women’s volleyball team played excellently as a unit, defeating Bulgaria decisively 3-0 in sets with scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-17. This secured their first victory in VNL 2026, bringing their total to 6 points, moving them up from 17th to 14th in the standings and improving their world ranking from 25th to 20th.
Fern Warissara Sithaler shared her feelings after Thailand’s first VNL 2026 win, saying, “I feel a great sense of release because I had been criticized a lot, so the pressure was quite heavy.”
“(About the first VNL 2026 win) I’m very happy and excited to have earned 3 points and gotten our first victory. Today, our serving was good, and we mixed our attacks well, fooling their blockers. That helped us score many points, and we supported each other a lot.”
“(About the time I was on the court serving several points in a row) I just wanted to get the serve over first, because I often make serving errors. My teammates and coaches encouraged me, which gave me confidence and helped me serve well.”
“When I was substituted in, I had nothing to lose, so I gave it my all.”
“(What I want to say to fans who criticized us) I’d rather not say anything. I’ll just show them through our play. Thank you. In the game against Canada, we will fight our best and aim to win. Don’t forget to come and cheer for us a lot.”
In VNL 2026 Round 2, Match 3, Thailand’s women’s volleyball team will face Canada, ranked 9th in the world, on Saturday, 20 June, at 20:30 GMT+7.
