The "Thai Golf Foundation" has initiated a pilot program to introduce golf to children at Municipal School 2, Wat Senanurmit, Saraburi Province.
The Thai Golf Foundation, led by President and Senior Professional Golfers Association of Thailand President Sutin Darunyothin, board member and secretary Rewadee T. Suwann, Women's Golf Association board member Pannumpa Pornpeerapan, and advisor Suthinee Isarakul, launched the Golf Roots Center project. This activity aims to encourage children and youth to take an interest in golf. The foundation organized the pilot at Municipal School 2, Wat Senanurmit in Saraburi Province, where a coaching team provided instruction on various aspects including golf history, driving, chipping, and putting, engaging the young participants in a fun learning experience on 23 July.
Mr. Sutin Darunyothin, president of the Thai Golf Foundation, explained the purpose and goal of the Golf Roots Center project, supported by The R&A. He said golf is a global sport with many world-renowned players, including Thai athletes known worldwide. The main goal is to provide opportunities for students, children, and youth to learn about golf and encourage widespread interest and participation in the sport.
"First, I want to thank all professional golf members who have generously donated golf equipment to the foundation and associations, ensuring children have broad access. For this pilot activity, Mr. Ongart Phatthanathong, Deputy Mayor of Bang Khae Subdistrict Municipality, and Mr. Kopong Pinnnoi, director of Municipal School 2, Wat Senanurmit, warmly welcomed students of various age groups and classes who participated in basic golf skills training. Any golfer wishing to donate golf equipment can contact the foundation or relevant golf associations as usual," he said.
Rewadee T. Suwann, board member and secretary of the foundation, revealed that the Golf Roots Center project, supported by The R&A, aims to promote golf among youth in provincial schools to increase the number of golf players. Municipal School 2, Wat Senanurmit was chosen as the starting point, with plans to extend to many other institutions. The foundation has enlisted professional coaches including Pro Jirasak Tatsanong, Pro Pakoratdis Nilpetchrat, and Benja Nipitgultong. Participants who complete the School Golf Roots Center (Level 1) training will receive certificates from the Thai Golf Foundation.
The Thai Golf Foundation was established through the collaboration of six associations: The Golf Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, The Ladies' Golf Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Ramphaiphanni, the Professional Golfers Association of Thailand, the Ladies Professional Golf Association of Thailand, the Senior Professional Golfers Association of Thailand, and the Thailand Golf Course Association.
