The final round of the Thailand National Cycling Championship is heating up! “Sergeant Muek” points out that cyclists will battle for the championship at Bhumibol Dam, with expectations of significant economic and tourism boosts for Tak Province due to the event.
The fifth and final round of the Thailand National Road and Mountain Bike Championships will be held at Bhumibol Dam, Tak Province, from 7-9 August. This event will decide the 2026 national champions and Royal Trophy holders in each category. General Decha Hemkrasri, president of the Thailand Cycling Association, expects over 2,000 athletes and followers to attend, generating significant economic activity, strengthening the grassroots economy, and promoting tourism in Tak. He advised cyclists to book accommodations early before they fill up. Fans can watch the live broadcast on Thai PBS on Sunday, 9 August, from 14:10 to 16:00.
“Sergeant Muek,” General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and president of the Thailand Cycling Association under royal patronage, revealed that the Association, in cooperation with Tak Province and Bhumibol Dam, will host the 2026 Thailand National Road Cycling Championship competing for the “King’s Bhumibol” Royal Trophy and the Mountain Bike Championship competing for the His Majesty the King’s Royal Trophy. The fifth and final round will run from 7-9 August 2026 at Bhumibol Dam. The road race will use routes within Bhumibol Dam and parts of Sam Ngao District, while the mountain bike race will take place entirely within the dam area.
General Decha stated that this fifth round will be the decisive event to determine the national cycling champions who will receive the Royal Trophies. Additionally, outstanding male and female athletes in both road and mountain bike categories will be awarded the Preeda Julamonthol Honorary Trophy. The best coach award will receive the Seri Trirat Honorary Trophy, named after the father of Thai cycling. Most importantly, mountain bike winners in each category will have the rare honor of an audience with His Majesty the King to receive their championship trophies. The competition committee and provincial representatives who jointly hosted all five rounds will also be granted an audience to receive honorary plaques, a truly unparalleled royal grace.
“Regarding this year’s race routes, the Cycling Association assigned “Coach Tum” Wisut Kasiyaphat, Vice President for Technical Affairs, to survey the routes with Bhumibol Dam officials. They confirm that the routes are enjoyable and highly challenging for cyclists. Over 2,000 cyclists and followers from across the country are expected to converge on Bhumibol Dam, all aiming to claim the national championship titles, many with very close point tallies. The large influx of cyclists will increase occupancy in Tak’s accommodations and boost spending, benefiting local OTOP products and vendors, thus stimulating the community economy and promoting tourism effectively,” General Decha said.
“Sergeant Muek” added a reminder for cyclists who have not yet booked accommodations to do so promptly before all hotels fill up. Options include stays within Bhumibol Dam and nearby Sam Ngao District. Delays could force some to stay farther away. The public nationwide can watch the live broadcast on Thai PBS, which will air the men’s road race for the general category on Sunday, 9 August, from 14:10 to 16:00. Additionally, live streams will be available on the Thailand Cycling Association’s Facebook Live and the TCA Channel YouTube. On Friday, 7 August, the time trial road cycling event will be broadcast starting at 09:00; on Saturday, 8 August, the “Bike for Life-TCA GREEN CYCLING” health ride event will stream live at 15:00; and on Sunday, 9 August, the youth men’s road race will be broadcast from 09:30.
General Decha further explained that to ensure smooth organization, the Cycling Association assigned Navy Captain Thitiporn Noirak, secretary general of the Association, and “Coach Tum” Wisut Kasiyaphat to hold coordination meetings with various Tak provincial agencies. The meeting, chaired by Mrs. Sunee Butsuphan, Deputy Governor of Tak, took place at the Tak Provincial Hall on 24 July. Tak Governor Mr. Chusak Ruying provided full support policies to ensure the event runs smoothly, safely, and leaves a positive impression on all participating cyclists.
Mrs. Sunee Butsuphan, Deputy Governor of Tak, revealed that Tak is fully prepared to welcome all cyclists competing in the fifth round of the Thailand National Cycling Championship at Bhumibol Dam from 7-9 August, during the late rainy to early cool season. The designated race routes are beautiful and offer close contact with nature, promising to impress cyclists. Tak also offers many tourist attractions along with a variety of delicious local products and foods, such as naturally sweet honey-dipped dried bananas, traditional Miang Kham and Miang fillings, and peanuts from Mae Sot District. She invited cyclists nationwide to experience the beauty of Bhumibol Dam, “Father’s Dam,” and join in the wonderful activities together.
Those interested in registering for the Thailand National Road and Mountain Bike Championships competing for the Royal Trophies in 2026, fifth round, can apply via the Thailand Cycling Association website www.thaicycling.or.th until 5 August by 12:00 noon. Registration is also available at the competition command center at the Sichon Pavilion in front of the Bhumibol Dam office on 6 August from 13:00 to 17:00.
