
Going to the Olympics: Pornpun reveals why the Thai women's volleyball team targets the 2026 Asian Championship title.
On 17 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Chompoo Pornpun Keardpradap, captain of the Thai women's national volleyball team, gave an interview before departing to compete in the 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship from 21-30 Aug 2026 GMT+7 in Tianjin, People's Republic of China.
The Thai women's volleyball team has set a clear goal for the 2026 Asian Championship: to win the title, which will automatically secure a spot at the 2028 Olympics. Achieving this would mark a historic first for Thailand.
Chompoo Pornpun spoke about the atmosphere within the team and their aim to claim the Asian title for the fourth time after victories in 2009, 2013, and 2023: "Everyone hopes to secure an Olympic ticket and win this tournament because winning guarantees us a spot at the Olympics."
"I feel it is highly possible. Personally, I feel this time it's very close. I truly believe we can do it without feeling pressured. We are just going to compete as usual, feeling that each match's result will determine whether we move forward."
