
Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Suppisara Paewsampran narrowly defeated the Spanish pair 2-1 to advance to the last 16 of the 2026 Badminton World Championships in mixed doubles.
At the Badminton World Championships in India, in mixed doubles, “Bas” Dechapol Puavaranukroh and “Fem” Suppisara Paewsampran, ranked 4th in the world and seeded 4th in the tournament, received a bye in the first round and faced Ruben Garcia and Lucia Rodriguez, ranked 44th in the world from Spain, in the round of 32.
In the first game, Bas and Fem started slowly and trailed throughout, losing 14-21. In the second game, the Thai pair regained form and turned the match around with a 21-11 win. They sealed the match by winning the third game 21-15, securing the victory 2-1 in a total of 51 minutes.
This win moves Bas and Fem into the last 16, where they will face the winner between Yuichi Shomogami and Sayaka Hobara, ranked 16th and seeded 13th from Japan, or Bimo Prasetyo and Arliya Nabila Tesya, ranked 46th from Indonesia.
