Chatchu-on reveals unexpected behind-the-scenes details after the Thai women's volleyball team won their first match in the Asian competition.
On 21 August 2026, BoomBim Chatchu-on Moksri, the standout opposite hitter of the Thai women's national volleyball team, gave an interview after their first match in Group B of the 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship held in Tianjin, People's Republic of China.
The Thai women's volleyball team kicked off the tournament by defeating Australia as expected, 3-0 sets (25-15, 25-15, 25-18), securing their first 3 points in the quest for the 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship title, which offers an automatic berth to the 2028 Olympics.
BoomBim Chatchu-on Moksri, playing her second tournament after the SEA V Cup 2026 Leg 2—where Thailand won the championship in Chiang Mai earlier this August—commented on the victory over Australia, saying, "It was like a big practice game in a real competition setting."
"Because the opposing side played well in many ways and dimensions, it allowed us to practice a wider variety of plays. On our side, we had some errors in blocking and reception, as well as game details, which we will work to fix in the coming days."
Regarding the serving that excited fans—with 6 service aces out of her total 9 points against Australia—BoomBim Chatchu-on revealed, "I just... served it over first (laughs). Actually, I didn't think about it that way. I had in mind where to serve and how to serve, and I followed the routine we practiced."
"(About my facial expressions and pressuring the opponents) I was surprised too (laughs), wondering if I was intimidating them with my gaze first."
"I ask the fans to please continue cheering for us. This was just the first match, and the road ahead is still long. Please keep supporting us. Thank you."
In the 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship Group B, match 2, the Thai women's volleyball team will face Indonesia, ranked 57th in the world, on Monday, 24 August 2026, at 14:00 Thailand time.
