Two Nations Improve in Latest Womens Volleyball World Rankings After Reaching 2026 Asian Championship Quarterfinals

Two nations have improved in the latest women's volleyball world rankings after reaching the quarterfinals of the 2026 Asian Championship.

On 27 August 2026, the latest women's volleyball world rankings were released following the advancement to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship held in Tianjin, People's Republic of China. The tournament winner will earn an automatic berth to the 2028 Olympics.

It was revealed that Asia's top three rankings remain unchanged, led by Japan in first place, China second, and Thailand third. These three nations have held these positions since before the tournament began.

South Korea, Thailand's opponent in the quarterfinals, is the only nation among the top eight whose world ranking declined compared to before the tournament, dropping from 27th to 28th globally, yet still holding fourth place in Asia.

Vietnam and Chinese Taipei maintained their unchanged rankings, while Iran improved by two places, moving from 42nd to 40th in the world. Indonesia recorded the largest jump, climbing nine places from 57th to 48th globally.

7. Iran (40th in the world) 109.82 points

8. Indonesia (48th in the world) 81.73 points
