Thai Womens Volleyball Team to Train in Japan Ahead of 2026 Asian Games

The Thai women's volleyball team is preparing to train in Japan in advance, while the boxing, sailing, and windsurfing teams will follow closely ahead of the 2026 Asian Games.

The Thai women's volleyball team, Asian champions and qualified for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, is set to begin training in Japan on 4 September 2026 ahead of the 20th Asian Games. Meanwhile, the boxing, sailing, and windsurfing teams will follow on 9 September 2026 to acclimate and train intensively. Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), stated that the Thai contingent is fully prepared.

Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), revealed the readiness of the Thai national athletes for the 20th Asian Games scheduled from 19 September to 4 October 2026 in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. About two weeks before the Games begin, preparations are proceeding according to plan. The SAT manages the plan in coordination with all sports associations, incorporating sports science, nutrition, and psychology continuously and comprehensively to ensure athletes reach peak readiness before competition.

The SAT Governor added that many sports associations have continued training since the 33rd SEA Games hosted by Thailand last year, where Thailand topped the gold medal count. This builds confidence that the team can extend their success to the 20th Asian Games. In the final phase, he urged everyone to focus on training while carefully avoiding injuries, travel accidents, and illness. The SAT has a dedicated team at the Sports Science Center to support and care for the athletes. "We are working hard and are pleased to provide services to all athletes," he said.

The travel schedule for the Thai national team attending the 20th Asian Games includes the women's volleyball team, four-time Asian champions and qualified for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, who will depart for pre-competition training in Fukuoka, Japan, on 4 September 2026 via Thai Airways flight TG 648 at 00:40, ahead of competition from 16 to 22 August 2026.

Meanwhile, the boxing, sailing, and windsurfing teams will depart for Nagoya on 9 September 2026 via Thai Airways flight TG 644 at 00:05 to train and prepare for competition as well.

Following this, the Thai women's national football team will travel to compete on 11 September 2026 via Thai Airways flight TG 644 at 00:05, and the men's national football team will depart on 13 September 2026 on the same flight. Other athletes will join progressively on 14, 15, and 16 September 2026.
