Coach Ott Focuses on Four Key Areas as Thai Womens Volleyball Team Pursues First Asian Games Gold in 2026

"Coach Ott" emphasizes four key points as the Thai women's volleyball team pursues their first gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games.

On 4 September 2026, Coach Ott Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai, head coach of the Thai women's national volleyball team, revealed the preparation plan for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

The Thai women's volleyball team departed last night to train in Fukuoka, Japan, from 4 to 13 September 2026, ahead of the Asian Games competition running 16–22 September 2026. They are placed in Group C alongside Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Chinese Taipei.

Coach Ott's four main focuses for the Thai women's volleyball team in Japan as they prepare to compete for their first Asian Games gold are as follows.

1. Warm-up match schedule

"We have an MOU with Japan to facilitate our training preparations. We will play warm-up matches against the Japanese league champions, the Saga Hisamitsu Springs club, coached by Toi Hattaya Bamrungsuk. The training match is on 6 September, followed by an official match on 12 September."

"After that, we will assess our readiness. We plan to enter the competition around 13 September, with matches starting on 16 September."

2. Physical condition

"During our training there, we must prepare in all aspects, including physical health. Since we are in a new location, we need to take care of the players' health and fitness. We haven't trained for three days due to various activities, so we will train there to build strength and stamina."

3. Mental condition

"At the same time, we need to recover in some areas, maintaining good mental health to avoid excessive pressure or stress. We also need to balance the team because our group is small—only 12 players for the Asian Games—so management must be careful."

4. Planning and analyzing opponents with a reduced 12-player roster

"We have planned with the coaching staff and sent them the competition schedule, detailing who we will face in the first and second rounds. The competition groups have changed since the Asian Championship."

"In the first round, we are in the same group as Taipei and will study Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan’s playing styles and tactics."

"Regardless, we must keep our players healthy and injury-free, as our goal is to win a medal at this Asian Games. It won’t be easy because the hosts will be strong, as will China, South Korea, Indonesia, and other teams, all well-prepared."

"We believe we must be at our best physically, mentally, technically, and tactically with a solid game plan. We expect the 10 days of training before the competition to be highly beneficial for our team."
