The 13th season of the Thailand Go League 2026 has begun, raising the level of competition with the first-ever Women League. More than 350 players from 46 teams are competing for the prestigious trophy and prize money exceeding 1 million baht.
The important Thailand Go League 2026, organized by the Thailand Go Sports Association in partnership with CP All Public Company Limited and leading organizations, has opened its competition featuring over 350 top Go players from across Thailand representing 46 teams, competing for the honorary trophy and prize money totaling more than 1 million baht.
Mr. Wichian Jungwiroj, President of the Thailand Go Sports Association, officiated the opening ceremony and spoke about elevating Go sports in Thailand. “The Thailand Go League has been held continuously for 13 years. The 2026 season is the largest and most comprehensive ever, with over 350 participants. Notably, this is the first time the Women League has been introduced exclusively for female Go players, reflecting the association’s commitment to promoting and providing a platform for female players to fully showcase their potential.”
“The Thailand Go League is a key mechanism aligned with the association’s strategy to develop the Go community in four areas: ‘Network’ — uniting teams from schools and Go institutes nationwide to build a strong cooperative network; ‘Go Star’ — a continuous league system that nurtures players to become stars in the Thai Go scene; ‘Sponsorship’ — hosting a standardized league format that welcomes new sponsors to support the sustainable growth of Thai Go; and ‘Branding’ — the association’s ability to organize four leagues demonstrates the strength of the Thai Go community and helps build the Go sport’s brand recognition broadly.”
The league format aims to train Go skills, enhance experience, and foster connections between younger and senior players. In 2026, the competition is divided into four leagues:
1. Grand League with 8 teams
2. Women League with 8 teams, held for the first time
3. Academy League with 8 teams
4. School League, divided into two divisions: Division A and Division B, each with 10 teams
The competition spans a total of five days, from 5 to 6 September and 3, 10, and 11 October 2026, with the closing ceremony held on the final day.
