"Somporn" discusses with Volleyball World the bid to host the VNL 2027 finals to build on the Women's World Championship.
On 12 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Somporn Chaibangyang, President of the Thailand Volleyball Association, met with Mr. Ugo Valensi, CEO of Volleyball World, and Mr. Guido Betti, Chief Business Officer of Volleyball World, in Kitakyushu, Japan. They discussed Thailand's potential to host the 2027 Women's Volleyball Nations League finals and the Women's Volleyball World Championship. This aligns with the government’s policy to build on the success of hosting the 2025 Volleyball World Championship and the women's team securing a spot at the 2028 Olympic Games.
They also met with Mr. Steve Tutton, Sports Director of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), to discuss coaches who will support and develop Thai volleyball continuously through the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment project, which helps national teams and athletes maximize their potential and achieve their goals.
