"Thepbiw" returns to compete in the 100-meter race at the Thailand Championships before planning to enter professional Diamond League athletics.
On 29 October 2026, "Thepbiw" Phuriphon Boonsorn, a Thai national sprinter and two-time gold medalist who was also named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, revealed his plan to return to compete at the Thailand Athletics Championships on 31 October before aiming for professional Diamond League athletics in the future.
Thepbiw stated, "Currently, my coach has advised me to rest because I have been training hard and competing in major events. I will resume training and competing early next year. Meanwhile, I will participate in the Thailand Athletics Championships, running the men's 100 meters for the Royal Thai Police team on 31 October. Since I've competed heavily recently, I need to rest and fully recover."
"Returning to compete in Thailand after participating at continental and global levels is important because I want to inspire younger athletes, youth, and new runners. This year, there are a lot of participants," Phuriphon said.
Regarding plans to enter professional Diamond League competitions, Phuriphon said he is currently planning because entering requires having an agency to manage travel and other arrangements, so careful planning and discussions are necessary.
