The Thai women's volleyball team may field an entirely new lineup for the 2027 SEA Games during the period overlapping with the World Championship.
Mr. Somporn Chaibangyang, President of the Volleyball Association, said that for the 2027 SEA Games in Malaysia, they might give the entire opportunity to new female players if they have sufficient potential.
"Next year's SEA Games, we will try to give the younger generation a chance to step up and showcase their skills more. The senior players will support the juniors to prepare them for the future when they replace the seniors," he said.
"The SEA Games team will likely be a mixed squad rather than all new players to help maintain team stability. If the younger players demonstrate enough ability, and the coaches agree, we might field an all-new team. This depends on discussions between the coaches and staff. But the principle is to give the juniors as much playing opportunity as possible," Mr. Somporn added.
The 2027 SEA Games women's volleyball event overlaps with the 2027 Women's World Championship, which will be held earlier in the United States and Canada from 20 August to 5 September, while the SEA Games will take place in Malaysia from 18 to 29 September.
