The result saw Supak Jomkoh and Oranicha Jongsathapornpan overturn the match after losing the first game and trailing 5-13, 14-19 in the deciding game, to defeat Jimmy Wong and Lai Pei Jing, the world’s 25th-ranked and 7th-seeded Malaysian pair, thrilling Thai badminton fans with a 2-1 victory: 13-21, 21-15, 21-19.
In the quarterfinals, Supak Jomkoh and Oranicha Jongsathapornpan will face Akira Koga and Natsu Saito, a new Japanese pair ranked 202nd in the world, who narrowly defeated the second-seeded Thai duo “Title” Ruttanapak Oupthong and “Jane” Chayanit Sudjaipraparat, ranked 13th globally, by 2-1 games: 15-21, 21-15, 21-16.
