PV Sindhu, a famous female badminton player from India, revealed a harrowing experience after being stranded at Dubai Airport.
On 2 Mar 2026, PV Sindhu, the renowned Indian women's singles badminton player, shared her harrowing experience of being stranded at Dubai International Airport since 28 Feb 2026 while traveling to compete in the 2026 All England Open. This was due to a temporary flight suspension caused by the closure of airspace over the Persian Gulf region.
This situation arose from escalating tensions in the Middle East, involving military attacks between the US-Israel alliance and Iran. As a result, Dubai International Airport suspended operations for safety reasons. PV Sindhu confirmed that she and her team are safe.
However, the situation was terrifying almost every hour. At one point, an explosion occurred near where we were inside the airport, forcing us to run away because of the smoke. This was an extremely tense and frightening moment. Currently, airport officials and the Indian consulate have moved us to a safe location following the nearby explosion at the airport accommodation area.
