“Bas” Dechapol Puavaranukroh and “Fem” Supissara Paewsampran, the beloved Thai mixed doubles pair, have announced their withdrawal from the final match of the “Badminton Asia Championship 2026” this Sunday due to injury sustained in their victory over the world No. 1 pair.
The duo had just completed a thrilling match, defeating Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping, the world No. 1 pair, in a tense 2-1 game (21-19, 18-21, 22-20). The battle lasted over 90 minutes before they narrowly claimed victory in the decisive final game.
Badminton Asia extended their support, praising the spirit and determination of both players throughout the tournament and emphasized that “athlete health is the top priority.”
Due to this withdrawal, “Bas-Fem” secured the runner-up position in the Asian Championship. They are now focusing on recovery to prepare for the major upcoming event, the “Thomas & Uber Cup,” which will take place in Denmark on 24 April.
