Badminton: View Kulwut Falls Short of Third Thailand Open Title, Leads Before Losing to Danish Shuttler

Badminton results: "View Kulwut" missed out on a third Thailand Open title after leading but losing to a Danish shuttler.

On 17 May 2026, the major badminton event in Thailand, the Toyota Thailand Open 2026 (TOYOTA Thailand Open 2026 Presented by VICTOR), a World Tour Super 500 tournament (HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500), was held competing for the Royal Trophy from His Majesty the King and total prize money over 500,000 USD (approximately 16.5 million baht) at Nimibutr Sports Hall, National Stadium.

In the men's singles final, View Kulwut Vitidsarn, world number 2 and two-time defending champion of this event, faced Anders Antonsen, the third seed and world number 3 from Denmark.

View Kulwut initially took the lead by winning the first game against Anders Antonsen, but then faltered in the next two games, losing narrowly 1-2 with scores of 21-9, 22-24, 18-21.

As a result, View Kulwut Vitidsarn missed out on his third Thailand Open badminton title following his wins in 2023 and 2025. He now awaits his second title this year after the Malaysia Open in January, aiming for his ninth career World Tour title.
