May Ratchanok Decides After Finishing Runner-up at Arctic Open Badminton in Finland

"May Ratchanok" has made her decision after finishing as the runner-up at the Arctic Open Badminton tournament in Finland.

On 13 October 2026, May Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand's No. 1 women's singles badminton player and world No. 5, announced via her personal Facebook page that she has decided to withdraw from the 2026 Denmark Open, a World Tour Super 750 event taking place from 13-18 October 2026 in Odense, Denmark, due to injury.

May Ratchanok Intanon stated, "Today, I decided to withdraw from the competition because my injury flared up slightly. At first, I thought I might have to withdraw since the final round (at the Arctic Open 2026) because I was assessing my physical condition every morning to see if I could continue."

"Even so, I wanted to get on the court and do my best, although my body was not yet fully recovered. After the tournament in Finland, I consulted with my coach and decided that my body needs more time to recover because we are concerned about the long-term effects if I push my body too hard."

"Thank you to everyone who has been concerned about my injury. I intend to return to the court as soon as possible, but for now, I must listen to and take care of my body first. The next tournament will be in France."

May Ratchanok Intanon’s next expected tournament is the 2026 French Open, a World Tour Super 750 event, scheduled from 20-25 October 2026 in France.
