19 Feb 2026 GMT+7 – The global women's golf tournament, "Honda LPGA Thailand 2026," kicked off energetically at Siam Country Club Old Course in Pattaya. "Pro Prow" Chanettee Wannasaen, a 21-year-old Thai female golfer, delivered a fiery performance scoring 7-under-par to share the lead after the first round.
Pro Prow played excellently, recording 9 birdies with especially sharp putting and accurate approach shots. Despite 2 bogeys caused by 3-putts, she recovered with a beautiful chip-in early on, finishing the day with a score of 65 (-7), tying for the lead with Japan's top pro Nasa Hataoka.
After the round, Pro Prow smiled and said, "I played better than I expected today, especially with my approach shots landing well on the green, giving me many chances to putt for points. Although I regret the 3-putts a bit, overall I am very satisfied."
When asked about the pressure of leading from day one, the Thai pro said, "No pressure. I try to play my own game. Usually, this course can be great on a good day, but tough if you slip. Today was a good day, and tomorrow I'll try to keep the ball in the fairway to create more opportunities."
She also commented on the atmosphere, saying, "I’m very happy to see many Thai golf fans cheering. Playing at home in front of fellow Thais feels warm. Luckily, my group today with Grace Kim and Chisato Iwai are good friends, which made the game fun and stress-free."
Other notable Thai golfers performing well include "Pro Jean" Atthaya Thitikul and "Pro May" Ariya Jutanugarn, who are tied for 6th place among the leaders, ensuring an intense competition over the remaining three days.
