Thai Golf Shines! Historic Week at Augusta for Both Men and Women

The Thai golf community is lively this April as 21-year-old amateur golfer Phifa Pongsapak prepares to compete in the major event, The Masters Tournament, from 9 to 12 April at Augusta National Golf Club. He qualified as the Asia-Pacific Amateur Champion and is one of six amateur golfers among 91 competitors in the tournament’s 90th edition.

Meanwhile, Thai female golfers are not to be outdone, with three rising stars earning spots to compete in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur 2026 in the same week.

Leading them is 19-year-old Aila Kalitski, a student at the University of South Carolina, who holds the tournament’s record for the lowest final round with 66 strokes. Although she narrowly missed the cut last year by just one stroke.

Following her is 17-year-old rising star Prim Prachanakorn from the Thai national team, a two-time SEA Games gold medalist whose strong form has made her a promising future hope for Thailand.

Also competing is Achiraya Sriwong, another female national team golfer, joining amateur golfers from 23 countries worldwide in this year’s field.

This marks another "historic week" for Thai golf, as both male and female golfers compete simultaneously at Augusta, reflecting the true progress and potential of Thai golfers on the world stage.
