4 Billion Baht MotoGP Budget Can Be Done! Sudarat Proposes Childcare Coupon and Questions Why the State Wont Invest in Thai Children

The Thai Sang Thai Party has introduced a policy to provide a 2,000 baht monthly childcare coupon, while straightforwardly questioning that if a 4 billion baht budget for MotoGP can be managed, why can't the state invest in the future of Thai children?

On 7 January 2026 GMT+7, the Thai Sang Thai Party launched a social policy under the concept “Caring for Thai People to Relieve Their Burden” by proposing a 2,000 baht monthly childcare coupon from pregnancy until children reach six years old. Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, party leader, emphasized that this is a long-term investment that is more worthwhile than spending on lavish projects.

Khunying Sudarat stated that Thailand is currently facing a severe birthrate crisis, with newborns declining to about 460,000 annually. The main cause is parents' financial worries, which distorts the population structure and inevitably impacts the economy in the long term.

“If the number of births continues to decline, Thailand’s growth will be difficult; GDP may not exceed 2% because the working-age population and purchasing power are decreasing. Meanwhile, families with children are exhausted, as income does not meet expenses, causing many children to lack proper nutrition and full brain development,” Khunying Sudarat said.

The Thai Sang Thai Party therefore proposes a 2,000 baht monthly childcare coupon to be exchanged for milk, vitamins, and necessary childcare items based on close medical advice. It focuses on children aged 0–6 years, considered the “golden period” for brain and body development, to ensure Thai children grow up healthily, reduce parents’ burdens, and motivate families to decide to have more children.

Regarding the budget, which could reach tens of billions of baht annually, the Thai Sang Thai Party leader insisted this is a worthwhile and feasible budget if managed transparently, without leakage, and by boldly cutting unnecessary expenses.

“Even a 4 billion baht budget for hosting MotoGP can be allocated, so why can't we invest in raising Thai children, who are the nation's future? This is not an expense but an investment in human capital,” she said.
