Quartararo and Rins Bring M1V4 Points in Season Opener at MotoGP Thailand Grand Prix

Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins brought the M1V4 bike to score points in the season-opening MotoGP Thailand Grand Prix.

"El Diablo" Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins, riders for the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team, completed their challenging mission at the 2026 MotoGP season opener by guiding the M1V4 machine to their first points of the year following the final race on Sunday, 1 March 2026, at Chang International Circuit in Buriram province.

The MotoGP class race consisted of 26 laps under intense heat and a demanding track, making tire management and race timing critically important.

Quartararo, number 20, started from the 16th grid position and steadily climbed through the ranks amid fierce competition in the midfield. He maintained an effective race pace to finish 14th with a total time of 40 minutes 7.093 seconds, 30.823 seconds behind the winner, earning 2 points and placing 16th in the overall standings.

Meanwhile, Rins, number 42, battled hard throughout the race and crossed the finish line in 15th place, 32.955 seconds behind, adding 1 point and ranking 17th in the championship standings.

Rookie Toprak Razgatlioglu, number 7 from the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP team, finished 17th, 39.194 seconds behind, while his Australian teammate Jack Miller, number 43, completed the race in 18th place, 47.848 seconds back.

Despite the challenges of the first race, scoring points in the season opener is a positive sign of development for the M1V4 bike, which remains in the data collection and continuous tuning phase.

The next event in the 2026 MotoGP season will take place from 21 to 23 March at the Brazilian Grand Prix at Autódromo Internacional de Goiânia – Ayrton Senna in Brazil, presenting another critical test for the Yamaha riders this season.
