F1 Cancels Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Races Due to Middle East Conflict, Reducing 2026 Calendar to 22 Races

F1 cancels the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian races due to the Middle East conflict, reducing the 2026 calendar to just 22 events.

On 15 Mar 2026 GMT+7, following the Middle East conflict, F1 canceled the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, leaving only 22 races for the 2026 season. This decision came after thorough evaluation by F1 and the FIA. As a result, there will be a five-week gap between the Japanese GP on 27-29 Mar and the Miami GP scheduled for 1-3 May.

F1 stated that due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East region and despite considering various alternatives, no replacement race will be held in April. Consequently, the cancellations also affect the Formula 2, Formula 3, and F1 Academy events planned during the same period.

These cancellations cause F1 to lose approximately $100 million in event revenue, equivalent to about 3.238 billion baht, from both races combined. This will impact the overall income for all teams. Stefano Domenicali, Formula 1's Chairman and CEO, said, “Although this was a difficult decision, it is the right one considering the current situation in the Middle East.” He added, “Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are vital to the racing season ecosystem, and we hope to return to both venues as soon as conditions allow.”
